Civil War Sword

The way wars operate have significantly changed over time

Wars have been going on around the world since the beginning of time. They have impacted the world as we know it today. War history is very interesting. While we all know about various wars that have taken place in the world and the outcome, most of us aren’t really sure why they took place. It is hoped that war history will help society as a whole learn some valuable lessons about what is effective and what didn’t work during the war process. Some wars occur with nations fighting against themselves or against another country.

The way wars operate have significantly changed over time. The early wars were fought with men fighting each other with swords, guns, and cannons. These battles often took place on open ground. Today most countries have troops for land, air, and sea to secure their boarders. There is also the threat of nuclear disaster being a part of the war strategy.
Women now serve in the military and on the front lines where they previously were left to care for the family and fill the open jobs of the men.

There are many things in our society that would have been very different if wars hadn’t happened or if the victorious party had been defeated. If the American’s had lost the war with the Indians or the Spanish then we would be speaking a different language today and living much differently. Slavery might have continued if things had been different in the Civil War.

World War I and World War II involved many nations. The United States sides with  Britain, France and Russia. This war lasted from 1914 to 1918. Twenty years later the United States would join them again for World War II. The Korean War involved the United States against North Korea and parts of China.

The longest war the United States engaged in was Vietnam. This war lasted for 15 years, from 1960 to 1975. During this time, the United States also engaged in a brief war with Cuba in 1961. Things were relatively quite until the late 1980’s when the United States invaded Panama in 1989.

The Persian Gulf War resulted from that and lasted from 1990 to 1991. Since 2003 the United States has been engaged in war with Iraq. The United States has proven to be a force to be reckoned with when it comes to negotiations as well as winning wars to protect the freedom of citizens.
